Marca MP

Marca MP is a California-based Regional Mexican group whose sound embraces banda, mariachi, and ranchera. Their 2019 debut single, "El Guerro," a collaboration with Grupo Firme, was the most watched online video in Mexico that year. Since then, they've independently issued five digital-only live albums, the studio-recorded Flores EP, and the studio long-player No Me Quejo. Brindo was issued in 2022 and the 19-track Aunque Digan arrived in 2023. They continued to manage a new album annually, returning in early 2024 with Lealtad. Formed in 2018 by a quartet of high school friends, the group included lead vocalist Pedro Vargas (aka "El Chato"), tuba player Esteban Salcedo, and guitarists Cristian Daniel and Jesús Tizoc. They gigged at private and street parties in southern California, played invitation-only concerts and weddings, and toured locally and regionally opening for groups playing in northern Mexico. They issued their debut EP, En Vivo, in 2019 and the set included "El Guero." Mexico's Grupo Firme had played gigs with the band and decided to cut the track as a video single; they asked Marca MP to collaborate. In Mexico it registered as the most-watched online video that year. Marca MP continued to record their shows and also issued the live digital long-players Despegando El Vuelo and En Vivo Desde el Maelcon: Sold Out in 2019. In early May of 2020, the quartet independently issued its studio long-player, No Me Quejo; they followed a week later with the live outing Las Preferidas, Vol. 2 (En Vivo). In July they released the studio-recorded Flores EP to critical acclaim. The set registered on streaming charts across platforms and marked the group's final recordings with Daniel and Tizoc, who were replaced by guitarists Diógenes Bojórquez and Julio Torres in early August when they issued Las Preferidas, Vol. 3 (En Vivo). In November, the quartet released the live Desde el Cantón, and Las Preferidas, Vol. 4 (En Vivo) appeared on New Year's Eve. In November 2021, Las Preferidas Vol. 5 (En Vivo) came out as the band were putting finishing touches on 2022's Brindo. They toured their hits and latest studio album across the U.S. and Latin America. That April they released the collaborative single and video for "Ya Acabo" with Becky G. It peaked at 14 on the Mexican Regional Airplay chart. Following two long tours, the band made it into the studio during a break from the road to record Aunque Digan. Released in July 2023, the 19-song set included guest spots from Tony Aguire ("R1"), Los Dareyes de la Sierra ("El Jefe Daniel"), and Julian Mercado ("El 2020"). Vargas wrote and produced the album. By February of 2024, the prolific young group was ready with their next album, Lealtad.
