Joakim Berg
Joakim Berg is a singer, songwriter, and musician from Sweden. Born Herbert Joakim "Jocke" Berg on March 15, 1970, in Eskilstuna, Sweden, he is best known as the lead singer of Swedish pop group Kent. Joakim Berg grew up in his native Eskilstuna, but he moved to Stockholm in 1993 to pursue his career with Kent, where he served as the lead singer, rhythm guitarist, and main songwriter. With Kent, Joakim Berg had numerous radio hits, eleven Number 1 albums, and 23 Swedish Grammy Awards. Aside from his career with the band, Joakim Berg has also found success as a songwriter for other musicians (he wrote “Come Along” for Swedish singer-songwriter Titiyo, for instance) and dabbled in projects such as the group Paus, formed with The Cardigans guitarist Peter Svensson. In 2015, Joakim Berg collaborated with Swedish DJ Avicii in the song “I’ll Be Gone.” In 2016, Kent announced that their final album would be that year’s Då som nu för alltid. The group disbanded after a months-long farewell tour. In 2022, Joakim Berg released his debut album as a solo musician, the self-produced Jag fortsätter glömma. Joakim Berg also served as the album’s producer. “Anyara,” one of the singles off the LP, reached Number 20 on the Swedish charts.
