Si Begg is back. Als Premiere veröffentlicht der Engländer ein Album unter seinem richtigen Namen. Ähnlich wie bei S.I. Futures "The Mission Statement" fährt er einen stilübergreifenden Mix seines musikalischen Könnens auf, und als weiteres Feature kommen bei einigen Tracks noch ein paar Gastauftritte hinzu. Ein erstes Schmankerl ist sicherlich die Kollaboration "Body" mit Chicagos Ballermann DJ Rush.
Statt Knüppel aus dem Sack ein gediegenes Stück Booty Techno, während dessen Rush wiederholt "I wanna move my body" zum besten gibt. Spätestens bei "stomping your feet on a dancefloor" dürfte die Message endgültig angekommen sein. Sehr fein, doch.
Szenenwechsel: "Grind" mit beschwingtem Orgelsound, Breaks und einer etwas schüchternen Bassline, die jedoch bei "Buss", formidablem UK Garage mit Miss MC am Mic, ihre Zurückhaltung ablegt und förmlich abrockt. Cut. Eine kleine Ode an England. Wieder Schnitt. "Technology" Breakbeats gehen über in das Dancehall-geschwängerte Moveup samt den Toasts eines Mr. Taylor, Mr. Black und Mr. Aleem. Neues Set. Airport. Erhöhte BPM-Zahl, Madame Femme von Trapp unterwegs in Paris, Tokio, Madrid, Las Vegas. Danach geben sich "Thermostat" und Danoyd zu Anfang etwas spröde, mittels Wobbel-Bassline heißt es aber bald "temperature's risin'".
Eine gänzlich andere Richtung schlägt "Colour" ein. Hier wie bei "River" deutet Begg an, jeweils unter Mithilfe von Jinadu, dass klassische Songstrukturen für ihn kein fremdes Terrain darstellen. Szenenwechsel. "VIP" verkündet "you are not important" und bläst Herrn Möchtegern-Wichtig ein paar Breakbeats samt schwirrenden Bassläufen um die Ohren. Ähnliches gilt für "Premonitions".
Zwischendrin verströmt "Inflight" noch etwas Besinnlichkeit - eine anmutige Melodie sorgt für Entspannung, bis am Schluss der Abspann "Time" von "Director's Cut" mit leicht störrischer Elektronik ausklingt. Wieder einmal zeigt sich, dass Si Begg enormes Potential und Talent besitzt, Tracks mit einer großen musikalischen Bandbreite zu produzieren, von der sich so manch anderer eine Scheibe abschneiden könnte.
