Modern Pain

Modern Pain are a straight-edge hardcore band from Dallas, Texas with a noisy, feedback-drenched sound owing as much to noise rock and grindcore as it does to '80s hardcore and thrash. The group's lyrics deal with alienation, paranoia, and personal suffering, often from the perspective of a drug abuser confronting the harsh realities of addiction. The band formed in 2010, bringing its intense live show to audiences throughout Texas and releasing a couple of limited-edition cassettes. Modern Pain's debut 7" EP, Self Deconstruction, arrived on Massachusetts-based hardcore label Six Feet Under Records in 2014. The group soon caught the attention of Bridge Nine Records, another prominent hardcore label based in Massachusetts, which signed Modern Pain in early 2015. The group's first release for the label was a 7" single, "Peace Delusions," which included a cover of Sonic Youth's "Kill Yr. Idols" as its B-side. The band recorded its full-length debut in Philadelphia with producer Arthur Rizk. The album, also titled Peace Delusions, had a much denser, even psychedelic sound than the group's previous recordings, and was released by Bridge Nine in September of 2015.
