Ivan Tirtiaux

Singer, songwriter and multi-instrumentalist Ivan Tirtiaux was born on January 2, 1977 in Charleroi, Belgium. Growing up in a farmhouse converted into a theater, he came from a family of artists. He learnt to play the accordion at the age of six, followed by the piano and guitar. He studied jazz guitar and arrangements at the Brussels Conservatory and released his first EP in 2007 under the name Ivan et Les Terriens. His projects have included rock opera, a funk band, a duo with his saxophonist brother, and solo concerts. In 2014, his first self-produced album, L'Envol , was released under his own name. It reveals a meticulous musician and arranger who invited twenty musicians to join him on an album that combines jazz, blues and South American music, accompanying lyrics that are chiseled, sometimes mocking, often concerned in particular with ecology. The artist was noticed, toured and signed with the Le Furieux label for his second album, L'Oasis (2019), which received L'Octave de la chanson française in 2020. Alongside his solo project, he plays guitar in the experimental jazz group Yôkaï, whose second album was released in 2022.
