Franko

Born on December 26, 1987 in the Akwa district of Douala, Cameroon, Kinguè Franck Junior chose the pseudonym Franko to launch his musical career in 2003. Immersed in the country's burgeoning hip-hop culture, he performed as an opening act for groups (including Dis l'heure de Ragga) and in schools, before winning the Challenge Vacances rap competition in 2007. Once again crowned winner of the Rap Come Test in 2010, his freestyles began to make an impact, and he unveiled his first single, "Les filles d' aujourd'hui" (2010). Franko went on to support the likes of Sexion d'Assaut and Zaho, and matured as a songwriter with his debut album, C'est le rap que tu veux voir (2012). It was three years later with his hit "Coller la petite" (2015) that Franko produced the hit he'd been waiting for. The song conquered internationally and racked up tens of millions of listens, reaching the Cameroonian and African charts, including #1 on Trace Urban. Song and video of the year at the 2015 Balafon Music Awards, best Central African artist at the 2016 Kundé Awards, popular song of the year at the 2017 Canal 2'Or Awards, this success transformed the rapper into a veritable star in the space of a few months. On the strength of tours that have become international, Franko continues to compose with the structure Sonolive Prod and presents numerous singles over the years, including "Téléphone" (2016), "Faut pas taper sur madame" (2016) and "On s'assoit pas" (2017).
