Emir Kusturica and the No Smoking Orchestra
The No Smoking Orchestra is, of course, the soundtrack to numerous Kusturica films since Black Cat, White Cat (1998), but it is above all a group that has been blowing a wind of freedom through the Yugoslav music scene since the early 1980s. Originally, Zabranjeno Pu?enje (No Smoking) was a Yugoslav rock band that became a phenomenon with a corrosive debut album in 1984. After 1991, the band split up, and part of it became The No Smoking Orchestra, a musical extension of a poetic and realistic cinematographic work and its... one-man orchestra.
