Eddie Benjamin

Although hailing from Sydney. Australia, songwriter Eddie Benjamin found his greatest success in Los Angeles, California, where he worked as a songwriter for artists like Shawn Mendes before launching a solo career in 2020. He was born on January 16, 2002, and initially performed regionally in the band Haze Trio. Although Haze Trio proved to be a popular act eastern Australia, its lineup had completely splintered by the time an 18 year-old Benjamin packed his bags and moved to Los Angeles. "Fuck My Friends," his 2020 debut single, was released the same year as "Funk," a song he co-wrote and co-produced for Megnan Trainor's third album, Treat Myself. Eddie Benjamin also released another single in 2020 — the Sia duet "Diamond Eyes" — before releasing his debut EP, Emotional, in 2021. Although none of the record's tracks charted, Benjamin did score a hit with "It'll Be Okay," a piano ballad he co-wrote for Shawn Mendes. The song became a Top 10 hit in Switzerland, Norway, and New Zealand in 2021, and also peaked at Number 2 on Billboard's Bubbling Under Hot 100 Singles. One year later, Benjamin scored a Top 40 hit of his own with "Weatherman," which reached Number 37 on the US pop charts, and toured across America as the opening act on Justin Bieber's Justice World Tour.
