Bangs

Bangs is a South Sudanese-Australian MC who attracted the attention of Eminem, Honda, and Jimmy Fallon with his quirky hit "Take U to Da Movies." Born in the South Sudan, he spent two of his teen years in Egypt before moving to Australia. A fan of Soulja Boy, Chingy, and Dr. Dre, Bangs formed the Nubian Knights in Australia as an East African immigrant hip-hop collective. Launched in 2005, the group released a self-titled album in 2009, but that was also the same year Bangs took his solo career to another level by uploading his track "Take U to Da Movies." The viral hit grew and grew, with an in-studio appearance on Eminem's satellite radio station, Shade 45, followed by a 2010 Honda Jazz television commercial featuring Bangs delivering his hit track. In 2011, he issued the album Reflections, while 2012 saw the release of Bangz the Don. The mixtape NICE followed in 2013, and "Take U to Da Movies" was featured on a 2015 episode of Late Night with Jimmy Fallon during the television show's segment of "awful" music, Do Not Play. Bangs issued his diss track "Ur Boy Bangz - Response to Jimmy Fallon - Do Not Watch" that same year.
