Ismael Miranda's career took full circle as he joined Latin music's oldest practicing orchestra, facing the roots of salsa from the music's most authentic sources. Even after six decades of nonstop performances, no signs of the group's decay are apparent, even when they stick to the very traditional Cuban conjunto style. Miranda, with his unheralded mastery of Cuban genres, tears up the scene in numbers like "Si Quisieras Olvidar," "Color Café," "Yo Te Perdono," "Borracho Yo," and "Maraví." A tailor-made tune, "La Sonora y el Niño," seems appropriate for the occasion. A nice change of pace for the salsa era where the young and eager meet the old and seasoned.
