On sale -20%The fans must be on cloud nine. Five live albums from Dire Straits have been released as a box set, featuring remasters and previously unreleased recordings. The well-known Alchemy (1984), On the Night (1993), and Live at the BBC, released in 1995 but which is in large part a concert from 1978, have all been remastered for the occasion. Alchemy has been expanded by two previously unreleased tracks from the same concert (“Industrial Disease” and “Twisting by the Pool”), and the other exclusive tracks, which include “Tunnel of Love”, “Telegraph Road”, and “Sultans of Swing”, make their appearance on On the Night, a concert dating back to May 1992 at the Arena of Nîmes for their final On Every Street tour.
The more rare EP Encores, also recorded in Nîmes and released shortly after On the Night, has been released digitally for the first time after being previously remastered for a limited edition release on Black Friday 2021. Lastly, the band concludes with the biggest surprise yet: 21 tracks recorded during concerts on the 20th and 21st of December 1979 at the Rainbow Theatre Show in London, four of them featuring Thin Lizzy bassist Phil Lynott. This gargantuan box set lets the listener enjoy the group’s music in its best light, on the road and on the rise, before virtuoso Mark Knopfler, exhausted, decided otherwise. © Charlotte Saintoin/Qobuz
