About Playlist

A portrait of a great artist. A golden voice with an unshakeable lyricism, which found a major field of accomplishment with Puccini. Her performances of major roles of the repertoire such as Mimi or Cio-cio-san (Madama Butterfly), in the studio with her childhood friend Luciano Pavarotti and under the direction of Herbert von Karajan, have left their mark on the discography. Her interpretations of Verdi bring a touching humanity to roles that are often approached in a more tragic way. She also remains fascinating for her rare Mozart works - she plays Susanna in "Le Nozze Di Figaro" conducted by Sir Colin Davis for Philips. One of her other great roles was undoubtedly Tchaikovsky's Tatiana in Eugene Onegin. For the record, she was the wife of Nicolai Ghiaurov, another singing legend of the second half of the twentieth century, for twenty-five years.
