About Playlist
Formed in Los Angeles in 1965 by American singer-songwriter Arthur Lee, Love emerged as a pioneering force in the local psychedelic rock scene and is often credited as one of the earliest cult bands. Their discography began in 1966, evolving from a fusion of garage rock and Byrds-style folk-rock to encompass elements of blues, jazz, flamenco, and orchestral pop. Their third album, Forever Changes, released in 1967, marked the pinnacle of their creativity and showcased Lee's brilliance, yet it was met with indifference from the general public, akin to the reception of the first Velvet Underground album released the same year. Despite their artistic acclaim, Love chose not to tour extensively during their peak years, and they faced a downturn after Four Sail (1969).
