Grupo Cañaveral De Humberto Pabón

Grupo Cañaveral are a Mexican ensemble credited with resurrecting the 'cumbia' genre of traditional Latin music. They were formed in 1995 by radio presenter Agustín Delgado and his friend Humberto Pabón Olivares who had previously achieved recognition as a percussionist and singer with the band Corraleros de Majagual.

Within three years of their formation the group had been credited with three gold albums and began to promote their distinctive brand of cumbia by a punishing schedule of live concerts played across Mexico. Their extensive touring saw the group's fan base and popularity grow rapidly and they began making guest appearances in Mexican soap operas such as 'Siempre Te Amare' and 'Maria de Todos Los Angeles'. The TV exposure firmly established the band's reputation as one of Mexico's premier touring acts within traditional Latin music.

In 2010 the band reinvented themselves as Grupo Cañaveral de Pabon and Olivares' son Emir took over as the main vocalist and frontman.
