This is the second of two excellent-sounding collections featuring Moré's '50s big band work. While working on other Latin releases, reissue producer Domingo G. Echevarria discovered a wealth of Moré's original analog master tapes in Mexico. He now has dusted them off and so far has made 25 sides available (hopefully, additional volumes are on their way). Beyond the sonic quality, the material here finds Moré in top form, backed by a bevy of Havana's best players. Having already made his name singing for Perez Prado, Moré's fame continued to grow with these and a slew of other RCA sides from the '50s and early '60s. With frenetic-to-cool arrangements from Bebo Valdés (father of pianist Chucho Valdés) and Generoso Jimenez keeping things going, Moré ranges fluidly from mambo cookers like "Francisco Guayabal" to such after-hours boleros as "Vano Capricho." A solid bet for Moré fans.
