Based upon his songwriting and pop recordings, Paul Davis should be a superstar. But, unfortunately, he shuns the spotlight. In fact, he has not released an album of original material in over 20 years. However, there have been several collections released in the last two decades, including this Greatest Hits package. Notably missing from Greatest Hits are recordings from Davis' last and most successful album (Cool Night, released on Arista), including "'65 Love Affair," his highest-charting song. Greatest Hits focuses on Davis' Bang recordings; however, it omits "Superstar," his excellent Top 40 tribute to Elton John, Stevie Wonder, Linda Ronstadt, and Joni Mitchell. The collection does feature the gorgeous "Medicine Woman," the gospel-tinged "Do Right," and the huge hit "I Go Crazy," along with nine other excellent pop recordings.
