Edith Frost bridges the gap between her psychedelic 1998 album Telescopic and the sublime country-pop of 2001's Wonder Wonder with this gem of an EP. In keeping with her inability to tread water from album to album, "Love Is Real" and "Between Us" are love songs high-plains drifters would sing if they knew any shred of sedentary life. The songs are two of Frost's best, and are only strengthened by a backing band composed of Chi-town luminaries like Archer Prewitt, members of Eleventh Dream Day, the Pinetop Seven, and the Coctails. "The Last One" is minor retread of the simple voice-and-guitar cowboy pop of "Give Up Your Love" from Calling Over Time, which easily succeeds on its own merits.
