Compared to the many other Gap Band compilations, this Greatest Hits -- from Collectables' Priceless Collection series, released in 2004 -- falls near the bottom of the stack. Even if it's clearly a budget release, there's no point in issuing another skimpy and spotty overview of the band's career. No "You Dropped a Bomb on Me," no "Early in the Morning," no "Outstanding," no "Beep a Freak," no "Jam the Motha." Most of the hits one would use as the foundation of a Gap Band anthology are left off. This is an extremely random sampling, and the odds of someone obtaining all the Gap Band he or she needs right here are about one in ten million. Just about any other set -- including Mercury's The Best of the Gap Band and Hip-O's Ultimate Collection -- are far more deserving of your attention.
