This CD was released in 1996 as part of RCA's Greatest Hits jazz series, an "introduction to jazz" reissue program. Clarinetist Benny Goodman cut the majority of his most famous recordings for Victor during the period covered by this CD which has 15 mostly famous swing selections including four from his Trio and Quartet. The music is not programmed in chronological order and amazingly enough for a program of this sort, there is no personnel listing for the orchestra! The vocalists (including Helen Ward and Ella Fitzgerald) and trumpeters Bunny Berigan and Harry James are not even identified! The music is quite good (with such highlights as "Stompin' at the Savoy," "King Porter Stomp," "After You've Gone" and "Sing, Sing, Sing") but all of the recordings are easily available on other Bluebird CDs.
