Pépé et sa guitare

Born in 1978 in Saint-Basile-de-Portneuf (Canada), Philippe Proulx, aka Pépé et sa guitare, is a Quebec folk singer. He began making music and performing in public in the 2000s, with his group Flying Vomit. In 2002, he took part in the finals of Cégep en spectacle. The following year, he won the audience and jury prizes at the Petite-Vallée song festival. The same year, he launched his self-titled album. Two of his songs, " Ostie qu't'é laid " and " Y fait beau ", were picked up by Quebec rock stations. In April 2005, he released his second opus, Fakek'choz , with the song " Toué tu l'as ", which climbed into the top 10 of the Quebec charts. A few months later, he opened for Robert Charlebois at the Bell Centre in Montreal. In April 2007, Pépé releases his third solo album, 100% Boeuf , with the song " Bobette Bob ", which becomes an earworm in Quebec. For Quebec City's 400th anniversary in 2008, he received a request from the organizing committee to produce a show entitled Pépé Goes Français , which was presented on the Plains of Abraham. A few months later, in conjunction with this show, he released an album of covers of French hits of the same title, and toured Europe. In 2011, he made a foray into country, with his opus Le Véritable Amour . Two years later, with his album Tout l'Monde Veut Jouer Avec Pépé, two songs hit the Quebec radio charts: " Kek'tattoos " and " Mon Avis ". In 2017, he opens for Zaz in Montreal at the Bell Centre and in Quebec City at the Centre Vidéotron. In September 2020, Pépé releases the single " Plus souvent qu'tu penses ", which reaches the top of the pop-rock charts in Quebec. In November 2022, he releases the album Le Secret du Bonheur, followed by a Quebec tour in 2023.
