Mariusz Kwiecien
Baritone Mariusz Kwiecien has been making his way through the standard operatic repertoire on his way to building a solid career on-stage. A student of the Warsaw Academy, Kwiecien's debut was a 1993 Krakow Opera production of Purcell's Dido and Aeneas. He then appeared in several roles around Europe and America before joining New York's Metropolitan Opera Lindemann Young Artist Development Program. Since his 1999 Met debut, he's returned there often, and in 2011 a production of Don Giovanni was mounted with Kwiecien in the title role, one he's been associated with often. In an interview with Opera News, he talked about how he's matured in his approach to the role, learning to work with the ideas and talents of the director and other actors to make each production unique. Kwiecien has also appeared notably as Eugene Onegin, and in Lucia di Lammermoor, Le nozze di Figaro, La bohème, and L'elisir d'amore. A few of these performances may be found on both DVD and disc.
