Gary Usher
Gary Usher is best known for his contributions to the classic ‘60s L.A. pop sound via his the songs he wrote for the Beach Boys. He has an extensive resume beyond that, though. He masterminded a slew of surf-rock singles under a variety of “band” names, produced everyone from the Byrds to Dick Dale, and with fellow writer/producer Curt Boettcher, he created psych-pop legends Sagittarius, who had a hit with “My World Fell Down.” Usher was only 51 years old when he died of cancer in 1990.
