Diabel Cissokho
Senegal's Diabel Cissokho belongs to a long tradition of griots. Diabel Cissokho started out in the family orchestra before moving to London, where he became Baaba Maal's regular kora player. In the English capital, Diabel Cissokho had the opportunity to rub shoulders with many of the big names on the world music circuit, including Femi Kuti and Cheikh Lô. For his first solo project in 2010, Diabel Cissokho collaborated with guitarist Ramon Goose on Mansana Blues. In September 2012, Diabel Cissokho released Kanabory Siyama, a blend of Mandingo and Afrobeat music.
