Thanks to this young João Gilberto, the new wave (bossa nova) was born. Early 60s Brazil was a euphoric time, and this wave of modern music became a melancholic and sensual soundtrack that spread to all four corners of the globe. With the help of his peers Antonio Carlos Jobim, Luiz Bonfa, Nara Leão, Elis Regina, Caetano Veloso, Gilberto Gil and a saxophonist like Stan Getz, Joao Gilberto's writing, voice and playing launched an aesthetic revolution with all the violence of a gentle embrace.
