StaySolidRocky

Melodic rapper/singer StaySolidRocky reached the Top 40 as a teenager in 2020 with the love-stoned ballad "Party Girl," the hit single from Fallin', his debut EP. Originally from San Antonio and based since his early teens in Richmond, Virginia, Rocky (born Darak Figueroa) started freestyling in high school, and within a few years built a modest Instagram following. In 2019, he uploaded a clip in which he performed a segment of "Party Girl," and was motivated by its reception to record a full version (produced by Nashi), upload it to SoundCloud, and invest in a video uploaded to YouTube. After he hooked up with Solomon Sobande, an artist manager and freelance A&R who previously worked with XXXtentacion, Rocky signed a major-label deal with Columbia. During March and April 2020, Columbia issued the tracks "Soft Aggression" and "Toxic" (the latter was co-written by Sobande), and then re-released "Party Girl." The track spread to users of TikTok, entered the Billboard Hot 100 in May, and by the end of that month cracked the Top 40. "Party Girl" peaked at number 21 and appeared on the Fallin' EP, issued in July.
