Justus Bennetts

North Carolina-based singer/rapper Justus Bennetts is known for his cross-pollinated blend of punk- and hip-hop-influenced pop. Bridging the gap between artists like Machine Gun Kelly and Chance the Rapper, Bennetts attracted fans with tracks like "Nightstand," "Cool Kids," "Real Life Sux," and "Girls. Born in Seattle in 2000, Bennetts first became interested in music while growing up, listening to his uncle's rock group Point Defiance, as well as hearing his mother and aunt play jazz. His father introduced him to bands like Green Day, Linkin Park, Pearl Jam, and Papa Roach. After moving to North Carolina with his family, he discovered hip-hop and rappers like J. Cole, Logic, and Chance the Rapper. He eventually started writing his own songs, mixing his rap influences with punk and emo sounds. He also began posting tracks online, including 2021's "Nightstand," which went viral on streaming and social media platforms. More tracks followed, including "Real Life Sux," "Bad Day," and "Cool Kids," the latter of which became an alt-pop hit. Bennetts kicked off 2022 with the uptempo single "Girls."
