De Randfichten
Johanngeorgenstadt, Saxony-based volksmusik (traditional German Alpine music) trio De Randfichten formed in 1992 around the talents of Thomas "Rups" Unger, Michael "Michl" Rostig, and (later) Thomas "Lauti" Lauterbach. First called Original Arzgebirgische Randfichten, the band changed its name to its current incarnation upon the release of Do Pfeift dr Fuchs in 1997. They remained popular in the regional folk scene for a number of years before broadening their already impressive listening audience by securing the number three spot on the German pop charts in 2004 with the hit single Lebt Denn dr Alte Holzmichl Noch...?
