For their third album, the Parisians from Isaac Delusion seem to have once again asked themselves the question “how can we pair easy listening electro-pop with daring ideas?”. Here, the moving harmonies and lyrical melodies of Disorder, the disco rhythms of It Hurts, and the lounge/exotica atmosphere of Together come into contact with myriads of unexpected and sometimes strange effects, making Uplifters an extremely lively, warm record. This combination of music which is both sensitive and full of freshness is perfectly suited to one of the album’s main themes: adolescence. The complex feelings linked to this period are at the heart of songs such as Fancy. The album’s lyrics are mainly written in English, though there are two exceptions – the dreamy Pas l’habitude and a stunning cover of Eddy Mitchell’s Couleur menthe à l’eau. The result is a delightful fusion of Teenies dream pop with an 80s-tinged French touch... © Nicolas Magenham/Qobuz

In your panoramas...
Arctic Monkeys, the English Holdup

It didn’t take long for the Sheffield quartet’s incredible riffs to escape the confines of their northern homeland and hit the charts. Following in the wake of the White Stripes, the Libertines and the Strokes, the band breathed new life into rock music and soon won over the entire world. Album after album, they’ve consistently proven themselves to be true all-rounders, comfortable with everything from soulful ballads to light, airy pop.

Interpol, Fade to Black

At the dawn of the new millennium, when garage was king, the New York quartet that then became a trio exploded onto the scene by reviving the dark romanticism of 80’s post-punk.

Britpop in 10 Albums

“If punk was about getting rid of hippies, then I'm getting rid of grunge.” It was with this sentence from Damon Albarn in 1993 that England invaded the stage previously dominated by Nirvana and Seattle grunge. Britpop is deeply linked to politics and local identity and emerged just as Tony Blair and New Labour were entering the scene. English romanticism was once again becoming attractive compared to the American identity, which was considered too hollow in the UK. Make way for “Cool Britannia”.
