The Musical Dimensions begins almost orchestrally, but quickly drops into its central sound -- phases of noise topped with near-spoken vocals, "proggy" rock sounds ("Freak Now"), and then more deconstructions into phases and washes of noise. It's certainly an appealing tone -- for at least a few listens; late-'70s rock offerings like this have the capacity to grow very old very quickly.
