On its 2007 self-titled album, Spoken reinforces its status as one of the most revered acts on the Christian screamo scene. Led by energetic singer Matt Baird, whose vocals are clearly influenced by the Mars Volta's Cedric Bixler Zavala, the Arkansas quintet excels at scathing, metal-tinged tunes, as best evinced on the urgent "Close Your Eyes" and the pummeling "History Erased."
