As Flipper did in America, Australians feedtime released some of the most extreme music to be considered rock & roll ever conceived. Shovel is perhaps their best album, but it's definitely not for the faint of heart. Simplistic, crudely played, thuddingly repetitive rock muck punctuated by harsh vocals, feedtime boiled away any sense of nuance in their songs and served the reaming glop by the steaming bowlful. Noisy, demanding, and very often sensational, Shovel is reductionist rock where energy and power are everything. A more contemporary comparison would be the sludge rock of the Melvins, but even they are more technically adept than these bohunks. Give it a try; your life will never be the same.
