The Tunisian duo Yuma, made up of singer and plastic artist Sabrine Jehani and singer, guitarist and film-maker Ramy Zoghlami, have set their sights high. This second poetic album of theirs brushes past the constellations, the depths of their pure feelings and their great hopes, in tones of Arab-language indie folk, a genre of which they have become the major representatives in their country. Since the Arab Spring, as in Egypt, freedom of musical expression has expanded greatly. A new generation of artists is coming forward; their lyrics are profound and come in previously-unseen forms. Produced by their countryman Skander Besbes, who is already working on Speed Caravan's second album, and arranged by him and by Breton Antonin Volson, Poussière d’étoiles expands the duo's horizons. Their tender guitar conversations are enriched by violin, cello, percussion, bass and several hints of electronica. Lyrical and vibrant, their songs communicate the passion and the tenderness that drive them. © BM/Qobuz
