Less daring and more pop. Reducing Marble Skies to such a tirade is probably expeditious. And yet, this third album from Django Django is clearly more in order than its predecessors. Since 2009, the Scots living in London had accustomed their fans to a giant stylistic pile-up, between the tinkering spirit of Beta Band and the quirky tone of Hot Chip. It was a rather motley soundtrack which blended genres and eras while always making sure to polishing the vocal harmonies. Here, those that some labelled as the 21st century Beach Boys still don’t decide between 60s pop flavors and electro pop cheekiness. However, the ten song of their Marble Skies clearly come out of the same mold, and are all about melody. In this, Django Django’s 2018 batch seems more consensual but no less captivating. © MD/Qobuz
