On this album one is turned on to some creative pieces that fall within the realm of multiple genres. With strong influences from folk-based musicians, it is no surprise that much of the material has these elements in the formula. What does come as a pleasant surprise is that the songs from the album come off with a vitality and energy that one can easily groove to. On the first track of the album, "Ever Mine," one gets to examine the quality of the vocals that Gabrielle presents. The country-rock essence lends itself to the depth and range that she is able to achieve. The color-filled instrumental nuances from the acoustic lead guitar and electric lead guitar create a harmonious balance that comes across quite pleasantly. The unusual and unique keyboard work by Dillon O'Brian brings an exceptional depth to the melody of "The Line of Your Leg" from the start. The jazz-rock feel of "The Line of Your Leg" is based on the keys and the vocal style that Gabrielle brings to the board. Some creative electric lead guitar phrases add extra dynamics to this captivating and suave piece. On "When You Want It," Gabrielle moves into another genre to capture the listener's attention, moving soulfully into a folk-rock-based melody. Her great ability to delve into a vocal range that is simply mesmerizing lends itself to the energy which makes this such an exciting and contagious piece. The title track of the album, "Dreamtown," brings the listener an acoustic solo presentation with a melody that most certainly compliments the beautiful vocals from Gabrielle. The ballad-esque lyrics flow smoothly with the expressive guitar work that masterfully colors the piece. It's an infectious performance that has original merit deserving of international attention. The simplistic balance between the keyboard and electric guitar brings a blues effect to the intriguing piece "Threw It All Away." The intensity in the presence of the vocals sandwiched between these instrumental nuances serves to create the best piece on the album. "Threw It All Away" has all of the elements which make up the contents of hit material. "Threw It All Away" has an infectious melody, emotion-filled vocals, a strong slow-dance groove, and a slightly familiar feel with an original twist kicked in for spice. With complement from the band, Gabrielle closes the album with the melodic gem "Beggar's Find," which features some layered harmonious vocals. The well-placed accentuations from the rhythm section give "Beggar's Find" depth, while the acoustic lead guitar provides a color-filled backdrop. The emotional lyrics are perfectly illustrated by the soulful presentation that Gabrielle manifests. This album is not a boring re-examination of folk music being re-hashed by yet another granola-enhanced musician. This is a country, folk, rock, with a bit of jazz and blues, presentation, which is pure musical entertainment at it's finest. Climb aboard the aural train that's bound for Dreamtown, the soundscape is well worth the trip.
