The Zeal & Ardor project comes from Swiss musician Manuel Gagneux. Breaking from the chamber pop of his former pseudonym, Birdmask, Ganeuax has taken the unusual step of fusing blues, black metal, and African-American spirituals for Devil Is Fine. The resulting record is a striking and wholly original work whose epic reach sounds like so much more than the work of one man.
