Following in the footsteps of 2007's La Mécanique du Coeur, French rock outfit Dionysos' seventh studio album, Plays Bird 'n' Roll!, draws inspiration from one of frontman Mathias Malzieu's novels, with five songs based on characters from Metamorphose en Bord du Ciel (including "Cloudman" and "Spidergirl Blues"). Its 12 humorous pop/rock tracks also include a tribute to June Carter Cash ("June Carter en Slim") and a song originally written for Alain Bashung ("Le Grand Cheval aux Yeux Gris") alongside the singles "Platini(s)" and the title track.
