Produced by himself in N.Y.C., Aquí Conmigo became the first solo record by Andy Andy (born Angel Villalona). The 11-track record comprises songs from the traditional Dominican folk music to the contemporary bachata, covering Ricardo Montaner's "Bésame," and two songs composed by Mexican top-selling artist Marco Antonio Solis -- "Boca de Angel" and "Yo Te Necesito." A tango-inflected "Alma Rota," written by Carlos Dalmasi, and the Mexican traditional-sounding "Amor Doloroso" emerge as proof of Andy Andy's experimental side, which enriches the classic form of the legendary bachata.

Undervalued: a Look Back on Female Composers

From Sappho of Mytilene to Kaija Saariaho and Clara Schumann, several women have managed to break through the macho codes of the milieu and become composers. While the classical music landscape has been largely dominated by men in recent centuries, the work of their female colleagues, whether pioneers or contemporaries, is just as fascinating. Here we put eleven undervalued figures of female composition in the spotlight.

Betty Davis, The Funk Panther

Without her, there would be no Macy Gray, Erykah Badu, Amy Winehouse or Janelle Monáe! Gone to heaven, Betty Davis remains the pioneer of feline soul sisters. The funk goddess par excellence. She was also one of the leading ladies in a certain Miles Davis' life, whose wife she would be for a short time. But who really were you Betty?

The Stylish Henry Mancini

Sophistication, humour, sensitivity… These are the words that often come to mind when describing Henry Mancini’s music. 23 years after his death, he is still seen as a major and influential pop composer. No doubt because, in addition to his glossy and light works for which he is renowned (notably Breakfast at Tiffany’s and The Pink Panther), he also knew how to display the complexity of his musical language in more tormented compositions.
