There was plenty of excitement at the Qobuz HI-FI Guide with the arrival of a pretty special wireless speaker, conceived by the sound engineers at Cabasse and brought to life by AwoX, a specialist in connected software (notably for smartphones and tablets). We put the spotlight on a new star:

It’s raining Wireless speakers at the moment and while they’re certainly in vogue, not that many can boast quite such esteemed parentage.

The AwoX StriimSound is likely to make its competitors blush with its individual aesthetic and top-quality components; all for an attractive €299 pricetag.

With its monitor speaker looks, this model can be used either horizontally or vertically and stands out with its 80W of power, developed by the engineers at Cabasse.

Let’s not beat around the bush. This speaker was first and foremost designed for Wireless music. AwoX are the kings of connected software, and their experts have developed the AwoX StriimCONTROL application exactly for that purpose. Linking the speaker to both iOS and Android devices, the software also gives you access to internet radio stations, and other content stored on connected devices.

The speaker pairs easily via Bluetooth or Wi-Fi (using A2DP, but not aptX to our knowledge), and also supports DNLA. You can also connect via an Ethernet cable to the AwoX StriimLINK which can be used to link up a hi-fi or the brand’s StriimLIGHT (lightbulbs with their own integrated speakers).

Other things to know: there’s 16 bit compatibility with MP3, AAC (Apple), WAV, PCM and FLAC, an auxiliary input and headphone line out, but no built-in battery (there’s a power adapter included).

Price : €299 Euros
