We met with Philip Glass fan Woodkid, who recently crossed paths with his idol at the Festival Nouveau Siècle de Saint-Étienne. The French musician and videographer discussed the influence of minimalism's grand master on his own music.

Between the minimalism of Philip Glass and the luxe electro-pop symphonies of Yoanne Lemoine, aka Woodkid, there seems to be an enormous gap. However, the distance between the two is not as large as it may seem, with the former exerting a huge influence over the work of the latter. On 18th January 2015, the Festival Nouveau Siècle de Saint-Étienne held a round table discussion on minimalism and its relation to art in New York of the '60s and '70s to today. Glass and Woodkid were both present, with the young French artist even playing a short set afterwards with musicians from the Opéra Théâtre de Saint-Étienne.
