Mastered in 24 bit/96 kHz (Absolute Jest) and in 24 bit/192 kHz (Grand Pianola Music), this album benefits from truly excellent recording which, as they say, enables it to explode from your speakers, enhancing the quality of the sound produced by your Hi-Fi.
Overall, the recording faithfully reproduces the original, massive sound of the orchestra (one would have to believe this when the volume is turned up ? it is of the highest quality), but the intimacy of the quieter passages does not suffer, and is expressed with the same joyful fervour. It is a delight to discern so clearly the positioning of the various groups of instruments within the orchestra. The percussion can be clearly perceived (through a strong bass thump) in the background, with the St Lawrence String Quartet more towards the front of the mix.
We welcome the breathtaking dynamic range; the rise and fall of the orchestra is limitless. The sound is never confused, reaching a clarity that evades the slightest unsettlement. We wholeheartedly celebrate this amazing release!
