When James Brown's heir revisits Changes by Ozzy Osbourne's band...

Charles Bradley has already proved that he is not a mere James Brown clone, but rather a worthy heir to the Godfather. With Changes the Brooklyn soul man, rediscovered by the good people at Daptone Records, releases a third album in which his haunting voice dominates the slightest melody. To be convinced of this, you only need listen to the eponymous song 'Changes', after which the album is named, an intense version of a 1972 song written by... you guessed it (did you?), Black Sabbath! The man who has been nicknamed the Screaming Eagle of Soul excels in ballads, those melancholic melodies his vocal range so brilliantly covers. But even in much more upbeat songs like Ain't It A Sin, Bradley displays his complete mastery over his art. This is thus a classic effort by a giant of everlasting soul music.
