Saber Rebaï
Saber Rebaï was born in Sfax, Tunisia, on March 13, 1967. Raised in a music-loving family, he came into contact with music at the age of ten, and more specifically with the oud, a string instrument widely used in Arab countries. After studying musicology, he was spotted at a competition for young talent in 1985, and went on to perform at the Carthage International Festival. After honing his skills as a musician with a number of artists and bands, and touring several countries, from Lebanon to Egypt to the Olympia in Paris, he released his first album, Yalli Bjamalek, in 1996. This album, on which the Tunisian's vocals are accompanied by an orchestra, synthesizes the traditional roots of his apprenticeship and his desire to modernize Arabic song. His notoriety is no longer an issue, and some of his songs become classics of this heritage, which is becoming more pop, like "Sidi Mansour", released on the album of the same name in 2000, or "Athada El Alem", presented in 2004. A French version of the latter will make these Arab hits accessible to the French-speaking public. As the singer accumulates records, fromAjmal Nisaa El Dounia (2006) to Anechid Al Routh (2018), as well as concerts, he takes part in leading TV shows such as Star Academy Moyen-Orient or The Voice Ahla Sawt, in which he distills his advice to young talent and shares his long experience of the musical world.
