P'tit Belliveau

Acadian country balladeer and Polaris Prize nominee Jonah Richard Guimond was born on 8 November 1995 in Fort Frances, Ontario, Canada and since 2017 has recorded music as P'tit Belliveau, his artist name serving as a tribute to his grandfather Julien Belliveau. Growing up in Nova Scotia, he showed a keen interest in music at an early age, picking up the piano and the guitar, and aged 16, began experimenting with synthesizers and delving into hip-hop production, initially creating music under the alias of JonahMeltWave. He launched his voice on the Acadian and Quebec scenes with three EPs in 2017 and 2018: Live à La Legion (2017), Highway 101 (2017), and School's Out (2018) before raising the bar with his debut album Greatest Hits Vol.1 in 2000, which not only cracked the Acadian charts (namely the songs "Income Tax" and "Les Bateaux dans la baie) but also won the Félix for record production of the year at the ADISQ gala. The following year, the LP won revelation of the year at the Gala Alternative de la Musique Indépendante du Québec (GAMIQ) awards and it was also shortlisted for the Polaris Prize Long List in 2020. In 2021, Jonah Richard paid homage to the late, local singer Baptiste Comeau via the Chante Baptiste EP and the following year issued his second album Un Homme Et Son Piano, which was also shortlisted for the Polaris Prize Long List and spawned two successful radio hits in "Demain" and "J'aimerais d'avoir un John Deere."
