Michel Paje

Michel Paje, also known as Michel Roy, was born Michel Claude Sahuc on January 2, 1945 in Paris. In his youth, he took singing lessons with Jean Lumière, Charles Humel and Christiane Néré. But music wasn't enough to sustain him, and he had to take on a succession of odd jobs, working for a photographer and an insurance company. He also took drama classes. He was awarded first prize for dramatic art at the Maubel Conservatory in the "classical" category. But he chose the path of music. He emerged at the height of the yéyé period and contributed to the movement's success with a hit song, "Nous, on est dans le vent" , whose adaptation also enjoyed a successful run in Quebec thanks to Pierre Lalonde. The song enjoyed a revival in 2000 when it was chosen for the soundtrack of Fabien Onteniente's film Jet-Set . It was included on his 1963 studio album, soberly named Michel Paje. It also includes the tracks "Tous les jeunes" and "Tu peux pleurer ". Michel Roy is featured in Jean-Marie Périer's famous 1966 photo of all the young artists of the yéyé wave. The singer decided to pursue his career in Quebec, where he was asked to host a TV show, À la Page, in 1967. Only a few months later, he returned to France and became a host for Europe 1, as well as a composer for commercials. In 1968, he composed the music for the film Tendre et Sensuelle Valérie , in which he starred alongside Danielle Ouimet. He also recorded several duets with her. His discography continued to expand, with new albums such as "J'entends ma jeunesse" in 1975 and "Il ne faut jamais se dire adieu " in 1977. That same year, he recorded the record for Jacques Chirac's mayoral campaign for the mayor's office in Paris. In the 2000s, he turned to voice-overs and dubbing, providing the voice of Louis XIV in Au Service du Roi in 2006. He also provides the main voice-over for the all-news channel BFM TV. But Michel Paje has not left music behind, recording the song "Adieu le blues" in 2016.
