Christophe Deschamps

Christophe Dechamps was born in Rouen, France, on December 5, 1966, and from the age of 8 onwards, he began playing what was to become his instrument of choice: the drums. When he arrived in Paris at the age of 17, he became a studio musician for commercials and started playing with Bill Deraime, before Sylvie Vartan and then Eddy Mitchell signed him up to tour with them for the first time. After a year in the U.S. to perfect his skills at a renowned school, he returned and toured with Véronique Sanson, Alain Souchon, Patricia Kass, Patrick Bruel, France Gall and Laurent Voulzy. But it was his collaboration with Jean-Jacques Goldman, which lasted from 1982 to 2002, that stood out the most. The singer was one of a number of artists, including Francis Cabrel, Alain Souchon, Laurent Voulzy and Debbie Davis, who supported Christophe Deschamps on his album Connivences, released in 1991. It features his biggest hit, "Idole idole", a tribute to Serge Gainsbourg, who had died shortly before.
