Aversions Crown

Aversions Crown is an Australian extreme metal band known for their punitive blend of technical deathcore and sci-fi-inspired themes. The Brisbane group quickly distinguished themselves with a triple eight-string guitar assault and a sound that fused relentless brutality with eerie atmospherics, as heard on 2014's Nuclear Blast-issue Tyrant. Despite enduring numerous lineup changes over the years, Aversions Crown has continued to refine its uncompromising death-tech sound, delivering assured efforts like Xenocide (2017), Hell Will Come for Us All (2020), and the 2025 EP A Voice from the Outer Dark, which focused on alien invasion narratives and apocalyptic soundscapes. Formed in Brisbane in 2010, the sextet recorded their debut album, Servitude, which was released independently in 2011 with Thy Art Is Murder producer Andy Marsh. The band's versatile amalgam of technical deathcore and brutal groove-metal turned heads at Nuclear Blast, which quickly added Aversions Crown to its roster. 2014's dystopian/sci-fi-themed Tyrant, which was also produced by Marsh, arrived in 2014 and saw the group augment their punishing deathcore sound with moments of brooding ambiance and the occasional clean lead. By 2017's loosely conceptual Xenocide, Aversions Crown settled into a lineup featuring guitarists Mick Jeffery and Chris Cougan, drummer Jayden Mason, and singer Mark Poida. 2019 saw the band welcome new vocalist Tyler Miller into the fold; he made his studio debut on 2020's bleak and brutal Hell Will Come for Us All. Miller left the fold in 2023 to join Thy Art Is Murder and was replaced by Alex Teyen, who took the mike on 2025's three-song EP A Voice from the Outer Dark.
