Ai Haruna

Haruna Ai, born Kenji Oonishi on July 21, 1972, is a versatile Japanese personality known as a transgender talent, singer, actor, businessperson, and YouTuber. Haruna began appearing on various Japanese media platforms in 1996, notably in the parody drama "Tamaki no Ko" on Nippon Television, where she gained initial fame. By the late 1990s, Haruna had moved to Tokyo and debuted as the world's first transgender wrestling manager in DDT Pro-Wrestling. Although she initially worked discreetly due to her transgender identity, she saved enough to start her own business, opening a snack bar. Haruna's breakthrough came with her regular appearances on "Kaiketsu Emichan nel," and her visibility increased significantly with performances on various television programs. In 2007, Haruna's impersonation performance at a wedding reception caught the attention of industry insiders, leading her to a career as an impressionist, mimicking artists like Seiko Matsuda and Whitney Houston. That same year, she competed in the Miss International Queen, placing fourth, and in 2009, she won the contest, marking a significant milestone as the first Japanese to win, alongside securing the "Angel of Talent" contest. Haruna continued to make impactful appearances, including a notable role in the movie Imagine 9.11 and participating in the Tokyo Paralympics opening ceremony in 2021 with a dance performance. Her song "Eenende"(2025) adds to her diverse career, showcasing her talent in music alongside her other accomplishments.
