En Worrisome Heart, su debut con Verve en 2008, la joven cantautora Melody Gardot revela un álbum pensativo y conmovedor de canciones de jazz/pop. Si suena como si Gardot haya sufrido su dosis de dolor cuando canta con una voz al estilo Billie Holiday, es porque lo ha hecho: sobrevivió después de ser atropellada por un vehículo y debe lidiar todos los días con dificultades físicas. De modo impresionante, Gardot ha convertido su desgracia en unas preciosas canciones melancólicas como la sobria "Gone" y la doliente "Some Lessons", que le valieron la reputación de la próxima Norah Jones.
