Malik Djoudi

Born in Poitiers in 1979, Malik Djoudi is a French singer-songwriter of Algerian and Vietnamese descent whose languid electro pop drew comparisons with artists like Connan Mockasin, James Blake, and Sébastien Tellier. Following a brief stint in the English-singing underground bands Moon Pallas and Kim Tim, Djoudi decided to return to his mother tongue on his 2017 studio debut, Un. Characterized by its lush synth sounds and intimate ambiance, the album established Djoudi as one of the most promising newcomers in the French indie scene, aided by the success of the singles “Sous garantie” and “Cinema.” In the following years, the singer was signed by the label Cinq7 and performed at some of France’s most famous festivals, including Francofolies and Rock en Seine. He delivered on the promise of his first LP with the synth-tastic Tempéraments (2019), which featured a duet with longtime hero Étienne Daho on the song “À tes côtés” and earned Djoudi a nomination for the 2020 Victoires de la musique Award in the category of Revelation of the Year.
