ルイス・ロドリゲス

Latin pop singer-songwriter Luis Fonsi was born in San Juan, Puerto Rico, on April 15, 1978. In 1995, he enrolled at Florida State University to study music. His studies were curtailed after the artist was offered a contract by Universal Music Latin which convinced him to drop out of college and turn professional. He recorded his debut album in 1998 titled Comenzaré. The album peaked at number 11 on Billboard's Latin Chart and was a modest hit across Latin America. By the time of the release of his second album Eterno (2000), Fonsi had recorded a successful duet with Christina Aguilera and won a Latin Grammy with one of his compositions. With his career on the rise, Luis Fonsi opened for Britney Spears' world tour in 2002 and a year later found himself playing before billions of people around the world when he was a featured performer in the Miss World 2003 competition held in China. With nine studio albums to his credit, he remains one of the most popular acts on the Latin music circuit and is best known for his collaborations with rapper Daddy Yankee. Between them, the two artists have four Latin Grammy Awards including one for the single "Despacito," which was a worldwide hit in 2017. "Calypso" with Stefflon Don reached number eleven on the Hot Latin Chart in 2018 and his collaboration with Clean Bandit on "Baby" reached number 15 on the UK Singles Chart. Luis Fonsi's tenth studio album, Vida, dropped in 2019 and achieved pole position on the US Latin charts and in Spain. It was followed by La Ley de Gravedad in 2022 and El Viaje, a collection of songs inspired by different cities across the globe, in 2024. "Marbella," one of the album's singles featuring Omar Montes, entered the Argentine Hot 100 at number 96. El Viaje also included contributions by Laura Pausini, Carlos Vives, and Jay Wheeler.
